Koch Ag & Energy Solutions, LLC. (KAES) is seeking an Automation Engineer to join the Operations Technology team in Wichita, KS. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to create value and flourish in a community of entrepreneurial-minded individuals to make an immediate and significant impact. The position will work closely with the Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and Project organizations for multiple production & terminal facilities in North America and will be responsible for all aspects of the asset life cycle of control system hardware with a strong focus on programmable logic controllers.

The candidate must demonstrate excellent critical and economic thinking, and communication skills with a focus on customer service. The successful candidate will be able to prioritize multiple business requests and have a proven capability to grow, learn and apply new knowledge.

This position includes up to 25% travel.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement reliability strategies to mitigate hardware and cybersecurity risks leveraging data to obtain the lowest lifecycle cost of equipment

  • Develop and implement sustainable support strategies and an effective spares program for control system hardware

  • Leverage and enhance the Inductive Automation Ignition platform as a fleetwide SCADA system

  • Identify and propose opportunities for the current automation systems to improve efficiency and reliability

  • Collaborate with peers across KAES and KII to instill best practices, share and institutionalize knowledge and provide technical insight into cross-site initiatives

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience with automation and control system hardware OR experience with networking configuration, hardware, and security

  • Experience in managing projects and work performed by 3rd party contractors

  • Experience communicating to an audience with varying degrees of technical experience

  • Experience effectively managing multiple assignments and prioritizing tasks accordingly

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 5+ years experience working with automation and control system hardware

  • 5+ years experience in OT with Purdue Model Level 1 and 2 networking, hardware, and security

  • Subject matter expertise on Allen-Bradley, and Modicon PLC hardware and programming

  • Subject matter expertise Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA system

  • Knowledge of Process Control communication systems (Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP)
