Description

Designs, builds and administers software responsible for product deployment automation. Evaluates, develops, and improves automation tools and processes to streamline the time from development to launch. Communicates the technical direction to, and consults with development and deployment teams in order to implement change.

  • Collaborates with other groups within Information Technology to create and maintain build and release automation procedures and tools which embrace the goals of build and release automation, consistency, quality, and time to market. This may include development on various platforms, adaptation of existing tools, and/or working with vendors.

  • Participates and investigates opportunities for development improvements and makes recommendations to senior management. May consult on the purchase of technical equipment and external software vendor selection.

  • Responds to questions from development and deployment teams and researches / resolves issue and/or coordinates resolution of issues to complete project work and provide technical support for production applications including high impact production issues.

  • Acquires and utilizes strong technical and / or application knowledge to independently produce deliverables and recognizes the impact ON design, documentation AND system changes.

  • Acts as a technical leader by making significant technical contributions IN program changes AND provides technical direction to development and deployment teams.

  • Demonstrates versatility of knowledge and applies strong technical skill base to contribute to related applications outside specific area of expertise.

  • Responds to questions from the development organization and researches / resolves issues to provide technical support for production applications including high impact production issues.

  • Acts as a technical consultant to project teams to build or provide training for new technologies. Proactively shares technical knowledge to cross-train other team members such as architects, design leads or developers.

  • Demonstrates versatility of knowledge and applies strong technical skill in their applications area. Independently applies new technologies in condensed timeframes to advance Paychex business objectives.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma - Required

  • Experience developing business applications and/or tools using either Microsoft.net or Java.

The role of the Data and Test Automation Engineer is to design, develop and maintain automation frameworks and develop solutions for effective and efficient test execution using agile methodologies for various types of application mixes. To fulfill this role, incumbents apply appropriate automation technologies to meet the short- and long-term goals of the testing organization. A basic understanding of different technologies is required for a Data and Test Automation Engineer; as well as a growing willingness to learn new tools and technologies, solve problems related to the use and implementation of automation tools, as well as provide comprehensive reports and deliverables summarizing all automation testing findings and results. Level I * Works to remain an active learner in all automation technologies related to software and web applications testing. * Actively engages with quality engineers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Facets, Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.). * Identifies opportunities to drive and contribute beyond team commitments. * Manages the day to day operations of HP Tools, Regression Bed and Testing environment including production maintenance of business support and project related activities. * Analyzes, identifies and implements Regression Test Bed, Automation Testing and Data technical improvements to ensure business users receive appropriate levels of service and performance. * Works closely with business analysts, solution architects and project managers to define operational requirements, resource impacts, estimates, dependencies and project plans. * Develops and improves standards and processes as required to increase the efficiency of requirements, design, development, testing, load, and deployment activities. * Interfaces with HP Tool Administration and Oracle DBAs for coordination and planning in support of project and monthly release activities, and for code package migrations of ETL code, UNIX scripts and data files. * Creates, maintains and publishes environment configuration process and technical documentation. * Works closely with Quality Leads and Project Managers and Test Engineers to educate on process and submitting requests for new databases, schemas, migrations, etc. * Performs analysis for capacity planning and manages storage inventory. * Implements and maintains the version control software, and data specific tool administration (e.g., ALM, UFT, Performance Center). * Participates in peer reviews and on project teams to ensure environment needs and impacts are identified as they relate to performance and maintainability. * Performs ETL development for data migration in support of Strategic projects. * Follows defect tracking processes; including software defect documentation, defect tracking tool (HP ALM, etc.) utilization, etc. * Participates in applicable team agile ceremonies and provides input to help that team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality. * Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values and adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct. * Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures. * Maintains knowledge of all relevant legislative and regulatory mandates and ensures that all activities are in compliance with these requirements. * Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required. * Performs other functions as assigned by management.
