Automation Engineer

Actalent is hiring an Automation Engineer for a great company in SW Washington!

Job Description:

For this engineer, they will work on many projects. For example, one project usually lasts between 2 and 3 months, and they are going to be onsite for 2-3 weeks at a time with 5+ days off between each week depending on the project. This person will be setting up the PLC and HMI for processing equipment so they have to be able to go through and either write or modify the code for the system to run, when pumps and valves come on, how to control the valves, how to control the different steps - they have to be very process focused.

They have to create the HMI that interfaces with the PLC through ignition so when the operator pushes the button the machine does what it is supposed to do and he cannot push the wrong button by mistake - so they need to make sure the code is "idiot proof" safe for everyone.

They will then be doing a lot of troubleshooting - during the commissioning phase they will help do the install and commissioning of the equipment and then they could get calls after the fact. These people will be starting up brand new systems so there are checks, commissioning and then support afterwards

Skills & Qualifications:

Ideally this candidate would have processing experience - how the process flows how to go through each step and what happens in each step. They do not have to have this process automation experience exactly but experience with processing systems / and exposure to valves and pumps will help this person to hit the ground running faster.

Need experience with designing of automation solutions and participate in various phases of automation projects including PLC development, configuration and testing, and the commissioning and start-up of a variety of automated manufacturing processes. Responsible at all times for ensuring that tasks are performed according to food safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.

Continually improve packaging and manufacturing equipment controls logic for better efficiency and reduced waste. Understand processing automation for troubleshooting and improving cycle time throughput.
