The Delivery Architect will ensure that AstraZeneca RPA (Robotic Process Automation) technical solutions are delivered to AstraZeneca defined reference architectureand technology standards. The role will ensure that the common architecture decisions are implemented consistently across the business and IT. The role will provide Information Technology architectural expertise and technical direction to RPA project and RPA platform development. The Architect will work on automation architectures using Automation Anywhere as the automation platform and will specialise in RPA architecture domain.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Supports programme leadership with technical assessments and feasibility of opportunities for automation

  • Provides expertise to input into the Process Qualification process, which includes

  • Automation suitability checklist (challenges, dependencies, required process improvements, target application compatibility)

  • Automation risk & complexity analysis (including GxP, SOx, Privacy)

  • Scope of automation

  • Contributes to the creation of estimates for solution delivery and provides expertise to validate third party estimates, ensuring value for money

  • Ensures (through input & review) solution architecture and design are appropriately robust and address business, application, information and infrastructural architecture requirements

  • Ensures accurate complexity assessment and sprint planning estimation is given for automations

  • Supports automation process design at all stages (high level process mapping to automations, low level design to solutions, overcoming technical issues during build, test and go-live)

  • Ensures Bot configurators are adopting best practice (e.g. coding standards, policies, security)

  • Provides technical assessment for go/no-go review

  • Is a primary escalation route for technical delivery issues

  • Supports technical conversations with senior stakeholders and business side (process owners and SMEs)

  • Designs architectures, solution blueprints for automation solutions and automation platform (Automation Anywhere)

  • Takes ownership of creating the detailed design document for the automation solution, which includes

  • As-is Process Analysis (including high-level description, SLAs, applications, process flow, inputs & outputs, target applications & roles)

  • To-be Process Design, indicating in-scope process flows, and out of scope alternate flows that are not automated, as well as the escalation approach

  • Detailed work instructions (keystroke level) for in-scope automation steps (c.f. functional requirements)

  • Solution Design (data flow logical model)

  • Data management (storage, privacy, retention, security)

  • Configuration details (e.g. automation files, config files, scripts / stored procedures)

  • Process & Functional Risk Assessment (risk areas for automation failure, mitigations)

  • Ensures that solution architectures and designs are appropriately robust and address business, application, information and infrastructure architectural requirements

  • Accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements and are aligned to AstraZeneca's Enterprise Architecture, in support of a given portfolio.

  • The Delivery Architect will partner with project managers, process analysts, functional architects, bot configuratiors, and solution engineers to create solutions that are aligned to AstraZeneca architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet the financial targets (cost and benefits).

  • Within the solution development lifecycle the role will be accountable for solution evaluation and selection, appropriate automation decisions, and early-phase project estimates which contribute to the business case.

  • Provides technical & IT expertise support to project teams and conducts AstraZeneca architectural reviews throughout project lifecycle

  • Ensures compliance with existing EA guidelines and standards (e.g. AstraZeneca Architecture Engagement Process (ISPMM) and EA Software Standards)

  • Contribures to project and service teams in the development, implementation and maintenance of standard architectural components

  • Works with third party suppliers as required and contributes to the creation of local or functional design documents

  • Works with third party suppliers to verify technical development and delivery are in adherence with the Architecture Roadmap, Blueprint and Information Services Strategy

  • Documents all architecture analysis and design work

  • Develops strong knowledge and expertise in the architecture domain of process automation

  • Contributes to the development of the Architecture Capability within Information Services, by documenting and sharing knowledge and best practices with peer Architects

Education, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential

  • Relevant technical degree or equivalent

  • Proven development/design experience in the automation domain using Automation Anywhere.

  • Experience of developing innovative solutions, blueprints, and standards for automation solution design.

  • Experience of defining standards and best practices for RPA platform

  • Experience implementing and maintaining business solution architectures under any formal framework for their domain of architecture.

  • Experience of developing and managing relationships with 3rd party suppliers

Desirable

  • Demonstrated initiative, strong customer orientation, and cross-cultural working

  • Experience in developing/maturing an architectural practice

Skills and Capabilities

Program Background: Fighting a multi-domain war requires integration across platforms, systems, military branches and coalition forces. The Air and Space Operations Center Weapon System (AOC WS) is the command and control center for operational mission planning, executing and assessing joint air operations during a contingency or conflict. The AOC WS provides the USAF with the strategic capability with operators at 22 global AOC WS locations providing command and control to aircraft through all of the Air Force's multiple critical missions. Currently, the Air Force is modernizing their AOC WS, providing a technological advantage in everything from security to actionable insight in the digital battlespace. Using software development best practices, such as Agile and DevOps, IIS will integrate data from more than 45 disparate systems and applications that feed data into the AOC WSs. Raytheon's innovative 'Modernization through Sustainment' approach incrementally improves systems without interrupting critical missions. As part of this 'Modernization through Sustainment' strategy, the team will work with the Air Force to standardize, modernize, sustain and transform the 22 AOCs worldwide into interoperable net-centric AOC WS. The upcoming improvements will facilitate machine-to-machine data transfer, allowing commanders to make decisions more quickly while reducing human error. The U.S. Air Force Materiel Command has awarded IIS a contract valued up to $375 million over six years to implement the 'Modernization through Sustainment' strategy for the AOC WS. Under this multi-year contract, Raytheon will update the existing AOC WS baseline software and develop and deploy new software upgrades to improve air and space command and control operations. Job Description: Initially, the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx) and The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) are executing a Pathfinder Project to bring new capabilities to the AOC WS using best commercial software development practices.
