The Automation Controls Technician will develop robust customized industrial automation solutions for manufacturing and testing with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.

Job Duties:

  • Evaluate opportunities for automation to establish requirements

  • Develop a plan (BOM, time schedule) for controls implementation

  • Build and install control panel, sensors, actuators, and safety devices (e.g. guarding, light curtains, opto-touch)

  • Program Robots, PLC, and HMI as required

  • Work with cross-functional teams including production, engineers, and tool makers to integrate automation solutions into a complete machine package

  • Document logic sequence, schematics, and project information that can be read by others

  • Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair

  • Develop enhancements and improvements to existing machines

  • Participate in automation/machine development projects from outside suppliers

  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Required skills:

  • Safety best practices and equipment

  • Fanuc Robot, Allen-Bradley PLC, and HMI logic and programming

  • Setup machine network connectivity (ethernet, IP, subnet) for remote monitoring

  • Knowledge of a variety of industrial equipment including industrial robots, hydraulics, pneumatics, relays, sensors, cylinders, drives, motors, pumps

  • Test equipment and laser marking integration

  • Organizational skills to implement projects based on priorities

  • Excellent communications skills to learn and share
