MannKind Corporation has an opening for a Automation and Controls Engineer-II, in Danbury, CT. DUTIES: Act as a first responder to line related automation, instrumentation, and equipment issues.

Work with maintenance, manufacturing, operations, validation, and QA personnel to understand problems and to progress toward a root cause, while minimizing downtime. Investigate and troubleshoot equipment and automation systems under conditions of urgency to keep production moving. Resolve issues in an expedient manner without compromise to quality.

Suggest, and lead technical equipment improvements, optimization, and other related Automation and Control department assignments to increase quality, throughput, and efficiency of automated equipment. Utilize company standards and industry standards for the design, development, installation, qualification, and validation of existing and future process control systems and building (HVAC) control systems. Assist the Maintenance Dept. with maintaining any necessary control systems spare parts inventory for the automated equipment.

Responsible for automation and controls technical support for facility equipment in support of manufacturing; including chillers, boilers, electrical power, generators, waste neutralization. Provide technical support for control systems and/or capital projects, equipment, instrumentation, and vendor contracted resources on an ongoing basis. Contribute to the development of control systems documentation, SOPs, along with system change controls, IQ, OQ, FAT/SAT/Commissioning, as required, to provide ongoing upgrades and new systems in support for cGMP Manufacturing and Utility control systems. Assist with Validation, Facilities, Calibration, Manufacturing, Process, and Engineering efforts and other cross-functional departments requiring controls-related assistance and expertise.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent.

Must have 4 years of experience as Automation and/or Controls Engineer, or related. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 4 years of experience troubleshooting equipment. 4 years of experience programming and configuring PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, pneumatics, and instrumentation used in manufacturing and facilities equipment. 4 years of experience in device and control networks (DH, DeviceNet, and Foundation Fieldbus). 4 years of experience working with computer systems and communications (e.g., network communications, operating systems).
