Reporting to the Automation/Equipment Manager, the Automation and Controls Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and modifying controls and automation systems. Under minimum supervision, must be able to troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on various automated production equipment.
Strong experience with PLC's, HMI's, Robotics, automation and control system design and hands-on troubleshooting is required.Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and modify existing equipment as required to meet safety and ergonomic requirements. Perform system evaluations, electrical design and automation system programming support for all plant manufacturing operations.
Perform root-cause analysis, troubleshoot , repair, and maintain automated production and robotic systems. Upgrading of existing equipment and integration of existing equipment with new automation. . Troubleshoot electrical wiring, relay logic, control and safety circuits Troubleshoot and repair electronic boards, PLC's, touch screens, displays, contactors, motors Troubleshoot automated systems related to production and plant support equipment ranging from single phase to three phase equipment along with voltages ranging from 5VDC - 480 VAC Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and layouts The ability to perform preventive and predictive maintenance of all equipment Follow all company policies including but not limited to general manufacturing and safety practices. Ensuring that work is completed in accordance with relevant codes and proper documentation Participating in continuous improvement activities and performance teams for suggesting methods to improve processes, efficiency, quality and service Candidate must be able to learn to generate CAD drawings using AutoCAD LT and must be able to assemble control panels from CAD drawings.
Although this is primarily a 1st shift position, the candidate must be flexible to provide after-hours telephone and on-site troubleshooting assistance and project support as needed to plant electrical, engineering, and production departments in a 24-hour, 7 days a week operation. Must be able to function well as a member of a team. Must have proficiency and experience with PLC systems, along with the ability to troubleshoot and modify PLC -program code and program documentation.
Should have good practical experience in PLC - Systems for process or material handling work. Experience with Allen-Bradley Controllogix and SLC plaform PLCs, PLC programming experience with Rockwell Software RSLogix 500 and 5000 software. This person also needs HMI programming experience, which needs to be FactoryTalk M.E. and/or S.E and / or Panelbuilder 32 software.
Experience with Siemens PLC and HMI software a plus Experience with Allen-Bradley variable-frequency AC drives and reduced voltage starters is a PLUS. Experience specifying, installing and troubleshooting thermocouples, pressure transducers, proximity sensors, etc. Proficient troubleshooting, including electrical/electronic circuits.
Proficiency at using tools, including electronic testing equipment Capability of using a Windows based PC, and Microsoft Office Applications. Must have excellent communication skills, and the ability to relate well to a wide range of constituents. Able to work flex schedule and work Sat., Sun., Holidays, rotating days, and OT as needed on projects and during breakdowns. Ideal Candidate should have strong background in troubleshooting and programming FANUC Robotics Experience with Panasonic/Miller robotic welding systems is a plus
