SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under the general direction of the Education Specialist, with lead direction from the Director of Special Education, provides behavioral consultation to teachers and interventions for students. The position provides direct care for students with behavioral difficulties by providing instruction as assigned, behavior management and preparation of classroom materials to students, and consultation to teachers as directed by the Education Specialist. Responsible for maintaining records and data to support Individual Education Plans (IEP) for assigned special education students. Development and revision of functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans and coordination with other IEP team members is essential. Assignment may be at the elementary or secondary level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Provides behavior support and training to teachers, children, and staff in coordination with IEP teams. Responsible for the delivery of an ABA-informed functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plan as outlined by the Education Specialist and for the training of classroom staff to generalize and sustain the plan.
2.Assists the Education Specialist in the development of an individualized student and family centered education plan. Uses visual supports to make the sequence of daily activities predictable and understandable. Uses visual supports to make individual tasks understandable.
3.Assists with preparation for and implementation of behavior management techniques, educational and vocational instruction and vocational placement programs.
4.Instructs students in large or small groups or one-to-one as assigned by and under the direction of the education specialist.
5.Administers or assists the education specialist with administration of assessment instruments.
6.Prepares materials for use by student, teacher and parents; types, hand draws. Reproduces and collates.
7.Uses computer for data entry and to produce correspondence and reports; operates copier, fax and other office machines.
8.Gathers, summarizes and reports student data to inform response to intervention protocols and behavior intervention planning.
9.May accompany students in any education settings for observation and intervention.
May assist with profile development for education and vocation planning.
May work with high risk students that are severely emotionally disturbed and/or dangerous.
Provides training staff in de-escalation and behavior intervention.
Performs other essential functions as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1.Knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) terminology.
2.Knowledge of the principles and practices of Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-handicapped Children (TEACCH).
3.Knowledge of classroom management for children with ASD.
4.Knowledge of de-escalation and intervention strategies for students with behavioral disturbance.
5.Knowledge of first aid and CPR.
6.Knowledge of both normal and abnormal anatomy, physiology, psycho/social, and disease entities.
7.Ability to communicate in person, writing or on the phone, with students, staff, parents, and volunteers, in a diverse environment.
8.Ability to work under pressure, adjust to varied situations, demands, and new behavior issues.
9.Ability to learn and integrate policies and procedures adopted by the school building, the 10. District and the State of Washington.
Certification and Licenses
Training certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and/or Treatment and Education for Autistic and Related Communication-handicapped Children (TEACCH), or four years' experience working with autistic children and the ability to obtain ABA and/or TEACCH within 2 years.
Desirable Qualifications
1.Certification as a BCaBA therapist or higher, or
2.TEACCH Practitioner level certification.

4.Willingness to complete Right Response Trainer certification
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in both a typical school setting and satellite sites. During the normal work day employee may be required to travel to multiple sites throughout the district in all types of weather and maneuver traffic, steps, ramps, and uneven ground Must have normal use of fingers, hands, and arms; ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; and tolerance of occasional loud noises.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employee's responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.
