Overview
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and/or Qualified Supervising Provider, provides behavioral services to patients in the autism program. Participates on the treatment team and carries out services as described on the treatment plan. This role includes the following duties and actively supports the mission statement of Mercy Behavioral Health Services. The Autism Technician 2 is responsible to train and orient new staff members. Also this role assists the Case Manager. May include weekends, holidays, day, evening, night, and/or on-call hours.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Each patient family has an Autism Tech 2 assigned and they are responsible for higher level maintaining of medical records.
Must be able to effectively give and receive feedback to other partners.
Provides in-home and community behavioral services to patients with autism as directed in the treatment plan
Participates as a treatment team member by attending meetings, providing feedback about patient progress, and sharing impressions of patient status.
Documents observations and care provided in the medical record.
Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to the Program Supervisor and/or Qualified Supervising Provider(QSP)
Participates in department and unit performance improvement activities.
Participates in initial home visits and educating families about the treatment process
Creates and assists treatment planning and intervention activities for specific children.
Creates treatment materials that support treatment goals and interventions
Does one or more of the following duties under the direction of the Program Supervisor:
Coordinates scheduling activities among families and autism techs.
Participates in treatment staffing and reviews when QSP evaluates child's progress
Works with families to help them better understand and interact with their children.
Trains new technicians as assigned
Facilitates Social Skills classes by coordinating, marketing, recruiting clients and staff, creating and implementing lesson plans

High School graduate or equivalent.
One year of experience providing behavioral services for individuals with developmental disorders of any type.
Must complete 40 hours of specified orientation on autism and application of techniques.
Certification and Licensure
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days
Managing Threatening Confrontations Certified (on the job training) within 90 days

Maintain a valid driver's license.
Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.
For those driving their personal vehicles:
Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.

Skills and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, basic computer skills are required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include frequent close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Occasional ability to focus is required. The employee will need to maintain current de-escalation training and utilize de-escalation techniques on a daily basis.
