RSI (Residential Services, Inc.) is a private, nonprofit serving the Orange County (Chapel Hill/Carrboro) communities, dedicated to providing quality care and support to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). We are committed to helping individuals thrive and reach their fullest potential. We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Shift Leaders.

Position Overview:

As an Autism Specialist 2, you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to adults with IDD in our Aberdeen home. You will ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of residents throughout the afternoon while also helping with scheduling, clinical work, and house needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overnight supervision, assistance, and support to residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and medication administration.

  • Monitor and respond to any medical or behavioral needs that may arise following established protocols and procedures.

  • Promote a positive and empowering atmosphere within the group home, encouraging social interaction, participation in recreational activities, and skill-building opportunities.

  • Document observations, incidents, and interventions accurately and promptly in resident records.

  • Collaborate with team members, including case managers, healthcare professionals, and family members, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for residents.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment, including performing light housekeeping duties and conducting regular safety checks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Prior experience working with individuals with IDD or in a similar caregiving role preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and composed in challenging situations, with a compassionate and empathetic demeanor.

  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures, with the willingness to learn and follow healthcare protocols.
