Full Time and Part Time work available.
Work Hours: We have 3 shifts available 7am-3pm; 2pm-10pm or 10pm-8am
Work Schedule for Full Time is 5 days per week-includes weekend rotation (40 hours per week)
Work Schedule for Part Time-every other weekend (16 hours every 2 weeks) You can pick up additional shifts
Educational Requirements:At least a High School Diploma
Experience Required: 1 year of child care experience-Autism experience strongly preferred
New Hourly rates $15.25 - $17.39
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have a valid Driver's License

As an Autism Residential Activities Counselor, you will be working in one or our Residential Treatment Facilities which specializes in care, treatment and education of children/adolescents diagnosed with Autism. These programs are located in West Chester, PA and offers unique psychosocial programming for children/adolescents who have an autism spectrum disorder with particularly challenging behaviors and have not responded to traditional mental health services due to cognitive limitations or medical complexities. In this role you will:
Provide supervision and a safe environment to children/adolescents assigned to you during your shift
Assist children/adolescents with bathing, dressing, eating and participating in activities/social events
Provide behavior intervention, follow approved behavior plans and implement positive praise and direction
De-escalate unsafe or inappropriate behaviors or responses
Support and coach life skills and educational goals and activities
Document progress and daily responses to intervention in medical records

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health PA Children's IDDIDDrvices, located in West Chester, Pennsylvania , provides a variety of assessment, treatment, and educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges.
Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate's understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.
All Devereux centers have formal infectious-disease and emergency-management plans, which have been tailored to address the unique aspects of COVID-19 prevention to ensure the safety of our employees and individuals served. Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to complete required new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.
Physical Requirements:Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.
Work Environment: Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eyewear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.
