We are looking for an Authorization / Scheduling Specialist NUHW for Community Wide Scheduling Diagnostic Imaging!
Location: St Joseph Hospital Eureka, CA
Shift: 8-hour Days
Under the direction of the Department Manager, OIC Clerical Supervisor and Lead Authorization Specialist, the DI Scheduler/Authorization Specialist is responsible for the scheduling of services for all areas and authorization of outpatient imaging services for the Diagnostic Imaging Department, coordination of verification of insurance benefits, and financial counseling when indicated.
Enters all necessary information in the scheduling and registration systems.
Obtains needed information and documentation from ordering physicians that is required for authorization of service.
Acts as a liaison between physician office, the insurance companies and the patients.
Works directly with Insurance Companies to process authorization requests, track scheduled cases requiring authorization and enters authorization approvals into the Meditech system.
Ensures that unauthorized services are rescheduled following established guidelines.
Notifies physician and patient of need to reschedule when necessary.
Performs related tasks as required. Is dependable, and remains flexible in staffing patterns, routines, assignments, and schedule changes
Minimum Job Qualifications:
High School graduate or certified equivalency (GED).
One year medical billing, insurance verification/authorization, registration or other related field.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, medical terminology, knowledge of third party payers, overall knowledge of business office procedures and hospital policies, computer data entry skills, strong clerical & organization skills and ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative manner.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Extensive customer service experience.
Basic familiarity with diagnostic imaging procedures to facilitate appropriate registration/scheduling.
