40 Hours/week

Flexible hours, with daytime, evening, and weekend hours required as necessary to supervise events and support customers.

Description:

Coordinates the use of school auditoriums by internal and external customers. This includes marketing, sales, scheduling, event planning, and operating the auditoriums. This position recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and supervises auditorium technicians. Supervises auditorium events and resolves issues during events.

Job Summary:

  • Performs tasks under the supervision of the Building Reservations and Activity Centers Manager.

  • Provides technical leadership for the operation of the auditorium and productions, presentations, and events.

  • Facilitates pre-event planning and sequencing of activities, staffing, materials and supplies, and set up.

  • Collaborates with administration on annual budget.

  • Recruits and trains auditorium technicians.

  • Schedules auditorium technicians.

  • Recommends auditorium equipment and supplies to be ordered.

  • Operates all aspects of audio, multimedia, special effects, and lighting systems.

  • Provides technical assistance and supervision to outside groups who rent auditoriums, including monitoring activities for safety and cleanliness.

  • Maintains inventories of tools, lighting equipment, sound equipment, and supplies.

  • Operates and maintains a variety of lighting equipment and sound equipment used in the operation of the auditorium, to include lighting and sound design.

  • Maintains and enforces fire, safety, and health regulations.

  • Provides technical assistance and supervision of the auditoriums during events.

  • Performs marketing and sales tasks, including outreach, facility tours, event planning, and event scheduling.

  • Prepares facilities use agreements and permits for customers.

  • Consults with venue users about set design and participates in setting up lighting, multimedia, and sound.

  • Coordinates venue services such as custodial and technology.

  • Coordinates with school administrators.

  • Collaborates with the Building Reservations Clerk on billing and scheduling matters.

  • Establishes and maintains excellent relationships with customers, school staff, and community members.

  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Required Education:

Associates Degree or Technical Certificate

2 Years Stagecraft / 2 Years Marketing (Preferred)

Qualifications:

  • Requires experience with stagecraft, auditorium lighting design and operation, and auditorium sound design and operation.

  • Requires marketing and sales experience.

  • Requires ability to use web-based computer applications.

  • Requires experience training staff in technical skills.

  • Requires excellent customer service skills.

  • Requires valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee occasionally must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head, reach forward, and use a ladder. The employee occasionally will be required to lift up to 25 pounds, and infrequently lift heavier items. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to tell differences among colors.
