SUMMARY

The Auditor participates as a team member on multiple types of assignments including: Sarbanes-Oxley controls testing, internal audit projects, vendor audits, internal investigations, and process reviews. The Auditor is responsible for evaluating the design of controls and testing the operating effectiveness of controls during these projects. The Auditor must understand internal audit scope and objectives, design and perform audit procedures to achieve project objectives, document the results of the work performed and prepare draft reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with planning, organizing, analyzing, testing, and reporting to management on the results of audit projects.

  • Assist with identification of key business and process.

  • Identify opportunities for improvements in processes and internal controls and discuss improvement opportunities with process owners.

  • Participate in, and lead elements of, client opening (kick-off) and closing meetings for projects.

  • Execute audit work programs and prepare workpapers that support observations and document work performed.

  • Draft written descriptions of issues that are clear and concise that can be included in project reports and in reports to the Board of Directors.

  • Present findings to Internal Audit Managers, the Chief Audit Executive, and process owners.

  • Assist with monitoring the implementation of management action plans.

  • Perform data analysis, evaluate results, and draw conclusions on the results in support of Internal Audit and Sarbanes-Oxley projects.

  • Work independently with limited direction and guidance, and effectively coordinate project activities with other team members.

  • Interact and communicate effectively with management, team members, and other personnel throughout the organization.

  • Demonstrate maturity, poise, self-confidence, and tact while in contact with other employees in the company.

  • Must work effectively as a member of a team and with audit management on all assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of internal audit practices and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements and testing approaches.

  • Knowledge of control frameworks such as COSO.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and internal control concepts to evaluate processes and identify risks.

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate business results, management information and financial reporting information.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to conduct effective interviews.

  • Data analysis experience skills using IDEA or similar tools would be a plus.

  • Experience working with SAP and JD Edwards is a plus.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related business degree required.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in internal audit or 1 year in public accounting or consulting.

  • Professional certification (CISA, CIA, CPA, CFE, or equivalent) or demonstrated progress towards a professional certification is preferred.

  • Chemicals, petrochemicals, oil & gas or manufacturing experience is beneficial.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time (may include international travel).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
