Who are we?
The Department of the Secretary of State, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Audit Services, is seeking a candidate to fill an Auditor II position. This position conducts independent audits of government organizations and non-governmental registration agents.
Responsibilities include reviewing their adminsistrative, operating and accounting controls. Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.This position is expected to perform a wide range of professional auditing work under limited supervision and may act as a lead Auditor over other audit staff in larger assignments.
A typical day involves:
Gathering, evaluating, and analyzing original source internal controls, procedures, documents, and records of Municipalities, Non-governmental Registration Agents, Bureau of Motor Vehicle (BMV) Branches and Main Office operations to ensure compliance with BMV statutues rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Determining if proper controls are established, implemented and followed to safeguard Bureau assets.
Preparing audit reports for Municipalities, Non-governmental Registrations Agents, BMV Branches, and Main Office operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
In order to be successful, you must have:
Knowledge of accounting and auditing theories, principles, and practices.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of General Account Office (GAO) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) standards for audit of governmental organizations and private businesses.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to write clearly and effectively.
Ability to conduct independent audits of governmental units, agencies, or business entities.
Ability to analyze accounting data and reports and make appropriate recommendations.
Ability to prepare clear and comprehensive reports of examinations.
Ability to analyze and evaluate administrative, financial, or operational systems and controls.
Ability to interpret federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
