RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Be knowledgeable of the audit process and theappropriate audit techniques and procedures

  • Perform special investigations, as assigned, onpotential fraud, conflict of interest, wrongdoing, etc.

  • Perform a complete audit independently and with minimalguidance, which includes the following steps:

  • Determineobjective(s), scope, and sample (as appropriate)

  • Assess risk(s)

  • Develop auditprogram

  • Collect andanalyze data

  • Identifycontrol/operational weaknesses and/or detect fraud

  • Organize anddocument test/fieldwork

  • Communicate auditresults verbally as well as through formally written memo or report

  • Supervise staffauditor(s)

  • Monitor andmanage project time budget

  • Maintain adequateand organized work papers

  • Interact withdepartments outside of Internal Auditing, as well as 3rd parties(outside of the organization)

  • Follow-up on openitems

  • Be able and willing to learn ad hoc projects as theyoccur, such as investigations and management-requested audits

  • Work well independently, as well as with teammates toachieve the project's or team's objective(s). This includes guiding or training staff, as needed as well asinteracting with management/executive management.

  • Be receptive of continuing education and professionaldevelopment/certification (CPA/CIA/CISA/CFE). This includes attending seminars, etc.

  • Compliance with IIA Code of Ethics, company guidelines,and Internal Auditing department guidelines. Additionally, maintain professionalism while performing all aspects ofjob duties.

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Managementor equivalent

  • Knowledge of sound business practices

  • Knowledge of insurance/claims/underwriting process,sales process, accounting and auditing principles is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Teammate and ACL software a plus.

  • Professional certification of CPA/CIA/CISA/CFE orequivalent experience, or working towards professional certification ispreferred.

Responsibilitiesinclude: Independently perform financial, operational, and regulatory internalaudits of small to large scope operations to determine the effectiveness andefficiency of controls. Identify risks and controls of established guidelinesand procedures as well as new processes that may not have written procedures.Conduct internal investigations related to allegations of ethical code ofconduct violations. Perform ad-hoc audits as needed. Perform data-analysis todetermine high risk areas and whether or not additional review is necessary.Provide guidance and over site to less experienced staff as an in-chargeauditor. Develop and administer new and existing programs impacting service deliveryand quality, member benefits, employee performance, internal and externalperformance management and service provider compensation/incentive payments. * Minimum 5 years experience independently conducting operational, financial, and regulatory internal audits as well as internal investigations of allegations related to transactional fraud, conflict-of-interest, and other unethical behavior. Ability to identify low to high-risk areas and mitigating controls. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of corporate employees and management, up to and including Executives. Proficiency in Microsoft office products and knowledge of TeamMate electronic work papers is a plus. Detail oriented. Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet goals and time deadlines. Ability to complete own projects timely as well as over-see projects assigned to as the in-charge. Experience in using data-analytics (ACL, Tableau) to identify negative trends and anomalies. Bachelor's Degree and CIA, CFE, CPA certification required. Knowledge of IIA Standards and ability to apply them to audits in a practical manner. Ability to travel by car within the state of California and by plane domestically, with occasional overnight stays (10%-25%) Desired: Familiarity with SOX and/or Model Audit Rule (MAR). Familiarity with AAA and/or the Automobile Club of Southern California business and systems is a plus. Familiarity with P&C insurance is a plus.
