About this Opportunity

The Auditor function is predominantly focused on audit projects, participating in planning, driving fieldwork, and assisting with report clearance. The primary measure of success is identifying meaningful potential issues about the design and effectiveness of controls, and creating reliable documentation to support his or her work. The Auditor must manage a number of auditee relationships, be a good team player, and take accountability for his or her personal growth and professional development.

Business Unit: Internal Audit

Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services of company policies and procedures to assist the enterprise in maintaining an effective system of internal controls. Internal Audit supports the Boards of Directors in oversight of the governance, risk and control framework.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Control Impact Identifies meaningful issues in which controls are not properly designed or are not operating effectively. Assesses the risk and control environment for processes within coverage areas.

    Validates the completion of agreed action plans under the guidance of a supervisor. Understands the financial services industry and risk and control environment for coverage areas and identifies new risks. Works closely with auditees to verify timely progress and completion of agreed action plans

  • Audit Execution Assists a Senior Auditor or Audit Manager with the execution of audit planning, fieldwork and reporting. Completes risk-focused fieldwork on time and within the allocated budget, notifying the auditor in charge promptly of issues that arise or when budgets or timelines are at risk. Understands and performs root cause analysis for issues; possesses and demonstrates a strong understanding of audit techniques.

  • Quality Process Demonstrates a strong knowledge of our policies & procedures, particularly work paper documentation standards. Independently prepares work papers that fully comply with IAD policies and procedures.

    Participates in continuous improvement initiatives. Aligns risk and control processes into day to day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk; escalates appropriately

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • Previous internal or external audit experience is helpful, but not required. Previous job experience for Auditors can and should vary greatly to meet the department's goal of having a team with diverse perspectives and work experiences.

  • Beneficial, but not required, are certifications related to the incumbent's coverage responsibilities, such as Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Financial Analyst, or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist.

This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to understand business processes and analyze information. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Execute high quality internal audit engagements, including operational, compliance and financial audits in accordance with the internal audit protocol. * Work on all phases of the audit including planning, development of audit test criteria incorporating data analytics, review and analysis of data, audit evidence and issues, perform root cause analysis, make value add recommendations and document audit results. * Gather, analyze and evaluate information from a variety of data sources to support audit engagements and other projects. * Meet with internal audit and/or client management teams to effectively communicate the results of assigned audits and projects. * Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls. * Report audit observations with supported evidence and make recommendations for improvement. * Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with audit clients. * Perform work as assigned by Internal Audit management. * Adhere to all organizational and professional ethical standards. Required Skills * Knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing and accounting principles and practices, and management principles and preferred business practices * Knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by The Institute of Internal Auditors * Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act and US GAAP * Working ability to conduct quality control reviews of audit work products * Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and report complex data, evaluate information and systems, and to respond with productive, relevant recommendations * Ability to communicate effectively with others & establish harmonious working relationships * Working knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Word Required Experience * Bachelor degree in either Audit, Accounting or Finance * CIA or CPA certification, or equivalent, preferred * 5+ years of combined full-time experience in internal audit * Public accounting experience preferred * Business and/or audit experience in Oil & Gas * Strong analytical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills * Ability to travel up to 20%, including to any of the Company's locations Job Location Dallas, Texas, United States Position Type Full-Time/Regular Apply Hunt Consolidated Dallas TX
