The Position

Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position will be working for the Department of Taxation located in Henderson, NV. Under general supervision, the Auditor 2 will conduct independent financial audits of taxpayer's records.

The Auditor 2 will evaluate financial information provided by net proceeds taxpayers and from other published sources such as audited financial statements, public company filings, and will develop meaningful audit conclusions based on a demonstrated knowledge of audit planning and procedures. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently in the field at the audit site and must be willing to enter all types of business establishments in Nevada, which might include those that are considered adult in nature, in order to perform the audit.

The incumbent must be able to read and interpret statutes and regulations; must be able to communicate with and assist taxpayers as well as prepare a complete audit report of the findings in an audit.

The candidate also may be required to travel out of town on overnight trips to audit, for periods from one week to two weeks at a time and must be able to deal with the public in an adversarial situation. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which included 6 college credits in beginning accounting and/or auditing, and one year of professional level auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education, supplemented by 6 college credits in beginning accounting and/or auditing and three years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as an Auditor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above, which must have included 6 college credits in beginning accounting and/or auditing. Special Notes Applicants must attach a copy of their college or university transcripts indicating successful completion of required credits in accounting and/or auditing.

This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Desert Regional Center in Las Vegas, NV. Under the direct clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, incumbents perform duties in a trainee capacity. Incumbents may be automatically progressed to Licensed Psychologist I upon receipt of licensure as a psychologist in the State of Nevada. Psychological Assistants in developmental services work with individuals who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and related conditions; such as Autism, seizures, Cerebral Palsy and Traumatic Brain Injury. In many cases the individuals served also have co-occurring mental health diagnoses. Work responsibilities include psychological testing and comprehensive report writing which integrates the developmental history, observations and test results. Psychological Assistants also provide behavioral consultations for individuals living in group homes and supervised work settings utilizing Person Centered Planning and the principals of Positive Behavior Supports. Psychological Assistants oversee the development of contextually appropriate behavioral support plans to mitigate challenging behavior and participate in team and clinical meetings to review the status of individuals served; provide crisis management as well as individual/group counseling or psychotherapy; and may serve on oversight committees or attend court hearings as directed by Administration.
