Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This recruitment will be used to underfill an Auditor 2 position.
Automatic progression may occur upon the supervisor's approval and when minimum qualifications of the higher level have been met.
This position will be working within the Department of Taxation in Carson City for the Marijuana Enforcement Program.
The incumbent will conduct audits on marijuana establishments for compliance with the rules and regulations of the Marijuana Enforcement Program.
They will also identify violations, conduct investigations as needed, document results and prepare reports of findings.
Examples of areas for auditing include marijuana excise taxes, security, adherence to restrictions regarding controlled access to restricted areas, storage of marijuana products, transportation, chain of custody of marijuana and disposal of marijuana.
The incumbent will review facility policies and procedures and quality assurance programs to determine whether product services are being provided in accordance with applicable standards.
This position has a travel requirement of up to 50% and requires a valid driver's license.
