KPMG is currently seeking a Manager to join our Audit practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the execution of external audit engagements of various clients including Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registrants

  • Research technical accounting issues

  • Manage client accounts including billing, fee analysis and new service development

  • Identify performance improvement opportunities for assigned clients

  • Work with other managers to help ensure the proper deployment of the audit staff and assist with the career development of team members

  • Understand and utilize KPMG's Audit Methodology

Qualifications:

  • Five plus years of current and/or recent financial statement audit experience within a public accounting firm with demonstrated supervisory experience

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university and licensed CPA in their home office state

  • Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), U.S. Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and Public Company Oversight Board (PCAOB) Auditing Standards

  • Willingness and ability to travel

We are in search of an Audit Manager with public accounting experience to perform a variety of accounting tasks in audit and assurance. This role will be based in Norfolk, VA and is a leadership role responsible for setting an ethical and technical example for direct reports and colleagues. Responsibilities: * Assumes full responsibility for coordinating the various phases of engagements, including staff requirements, visits to off-site work locations, client meetings, and job planning and scheduling * Plans the logistics of special assignments, including work to be performed by other offices * Evaluates internal controls used by clients * Prepares or reviews audit programs and time budgets for subsequent approval * Supports the training of other technical staff, possibly managing direct reports * Evaluates working papers and ensuring that engagements were performed in accordance with generally accepted standards * Creates relationship opportunities with clients and non-clients to expand our practice Requirements (with or without accommodations): * A bachelor's degree and CPA certification required with a minimum of eight years' of public accounting experience * Strong working knowledge of US GAAP * Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision * Fluent in speaking, reading and writing the English language * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form * Experience in a specialized area of audit including specialized certifications preferred Our Firms policy is to provide equal opportunity for employment to all individuals regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
