The Audit & Control Group Leader assists the supervisor in ensuring the overall operation is running smoothly and excellent service is being provided by efficiently and effectively responding to the needs of patients, insurance carriers, physicians and other departments within MSK. The Group Leader provides training to all new employees as well as acts as an expert resource for their teams.
Coordinate the completion of work assignments on an individual and group basis
Coordinate the completion of regular work as well as charge correction projects and resolving credit balances
Updates logs and other tracking mechanisms regarding work distribution, and keeps co-Audit Group Leaders and management informed of work progress and completion
Holds regular weekly meetings with staff to effectively monitor their workloads and assist with their questions and issues
Communicates with other areas to resolve difficult accounts by researching policies and procedures, and initiates procedural changes when necessary
Provides on-the-job training for new specialists as well as training of new procedures to all staff and gives new staff the necessary tools, supplies and information (i.e. new policies and updates) to perform their responsibilities
Advises new employees on their progress and development areas
Monitors progress and manages productivity to ensure individuals' expectations and team's goals are met
Acts as an expert resource to staff on policies, procedures and work responsibilities and maintains open communication between staff, themselves, and management personnel
Provides necessary assistance and participation towards department wide initiatives
Prepares and updates time sheets and orders supplies
Bachelor's degree preferred
3-4 years customer service/leadership required; preferably in a healthcare billing environment
Excellent organizational skills and thoroughness
Excellent oral and written communication skills
General computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office required
Strong analytical skills
Good judgment and tact required to respond to critical operational problems
Able to set priorities to identify problems and recognize need for critical issues
