Job Status: UNTIL FILLED Posting Date: 03/27/2024 Posting Number: 011909 Location: Technology Position Title: Audio/Video System Specialist Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Reports To: Technology Director Operations and Assets

Primary Purpose:

This position will supervise and monitor projects related to the install, support, maintenance, uptime, special event set-up, and replacement of the district's audio-visual (A/V) and bell/public announcements (BPA) systems. The position will also focus on modifications and repair to audio video equipment, bell/PA systems, security camera systems, and computer hardware and software related to A/V & BPA systems. Ability to lead small to mid-level teams/projects and provides technical expertise for prompt resolution if issues, as well as guidance on best practices as they relate to industry standards and/or department processes and procedures are priorities for this position. Ability to work with multiple departments and vendors to complete projects with the highest of standards is key. The position also provides technical counsel and recommendations for future upgrades based on new A/V & Bell PA emerging technologies targeting the K-12 space.

Qualifications: Education/Certification:

  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Extron Control Specialist certification required or must be obtained within the first 6 months

  • Certifications for Singlewire/Informacast Mass Notification System Preferred - Technical understanding of the system a must

  • CompTIA A+ certification highly desired

  • CompTIA Network+ certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience Implementing, maintaining, and monitoring the following Bell PA/Mass Notification systems:

  • Bogen

  • Extron

  • Singlewire/Informacast

  • Knowledge and experience integrating IP-Based Bell/PA systems with other life-safety systems including fire panels and access card technologies

  • Knowledge and experience using a helpdesk ticket system to track SLA, performance and customer satisfaction metrics.

  • Ability to lead teams effectively by prioritizing work, providing guidance and opportunities for growth.

Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience installing and troubleshooting AV equipment

  • 3 - 5 years of experience working with AV control systems such as Extron, Bogen, Singlewire/Informacast

  • 3 - 5 years of experience working architecting, documenting, installing, and maintaining interactive displays, A/V control panels, back-end hardware, and its network dependencies.

  • 3 - 5 years of leading large A/V implementation projects preferred

  • 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience

  • Experience installing AV/Data cabling using industry standards and best practices.

  • Working understanding of back-end infrastructure (network and servers) configurations for IP-Based Bell/PA systems for installation, troubleshooting and maintenance purposes in conjunction with other staff members including but not limited to, system administrators and network specialists.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Install, configure, and commission AV equipment to ensure optimal functionality following manufacturer specifications and industry standards.

  • Proficient in the maintenance needs and monitoring of Bogen Bell PA systems

  • Proficient in Extron and Singlewire/Informacast control system setup, monitoring, firmware updates, and troubleshooting.

  • Conduct comprehensive testing and diagnostics for audio, video, and control systems, employing advanced tools for accuracy.

  • Ability to utilize equipment to troubleshoot connectivity, status, uptime and operability of IP-Based audio visual and BPA systems.

  • Ability to create and interpret project documentation accurately to ensure seamless system integration as per installation drawings and specifications.

  • Expertise in cable installation, termination, testing, and labeling for audio, video, voice, and data connections.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system setup, technical troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Manage service requests efficiently through ticketing systems, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Stay updated on emerging AV technologies and contribute insights for system enhancement and strategic planning.

  • Uphold a customer-centric approach, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.

  • Adaptability to evolving techniques and procedures in the AV industry.

  • Pursue relevant technology certifications to stay abreast of advancements.

  • Ability to work cross-departmentally with technical and non-technical stakeholders to communicate, troubleshoot, install and maintain operationally critical equipment.

  • Undertake special projects, after-hours support, and upgrades as required.

Manage the A/V technical support team.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

Salary: Pay Grade TG04, $269.50 - $327.08 daily rate, commensurate with experience according to District salary schedule Days: 226
