The Audiology Assistant at Gateway Salmon Creek is a person who, after appropriate training and demonstration of competency, performs delegated tasks that are prescribed, directed, and supervised by a licensed audiologist. The Audiology Assistant will serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, and internal/external customers in person, by email, and by telephone. Facilitate effective appointment scheduling and handle phone calls, patient check-in/check-out, cashiering and other medical office support duties in a courteous and efficient manner. Will also be responsible to process open referrals daily. The schedule is four, 10-hour shifts (7:00a-5:30p): Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Hiring Range $19.60 to $26.35. Placement in the range is dependent on applicable professional experience and qualifications.

After appropriate training, audiology assistants may perform the following:

  • Package and mail earmold orders, device repairs, and factory returns.

  • Perform inventories of equipment and supplies.

  • Enter clinic supply orders.

  • Clean hearing aids and other amplification devices.

  • Assist audiologists with setup of technical tasks.

  • Prepare materials for ear impressions.

  • Maintain and restock test and treatment rooms.

  • Perform checks on hearing aids and other amplification devices.

  • Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs to hearing aids, earmolds, and other amplification devices.

  • Perform equipment maintenance and biological checks.

  • Perform non-diagnostic otoscopy.

  • Perform electroacoustic analysis of hearing aids and other amplification devices.

  • Instruct patients in proper use and care of hearing aids and other amplification devices.

  • Demonstrate listening devices.

  • Instruct patients in proper ear hygiene.

  • Assist audiologists in hearing testing of pediatric patients.

  • Perform infection control/cleaning duties within the clinic service areas.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Have a basic understanding of the needs of the population being served.

  • Must meet training requirements and have competency-based skills necessary for the performance of specific assigned tasks.

  • Good manual dexterity.

  • Excellent time management skills required.

  • Computer and keyboarding skills required.

Education and Experience:

  • High school degree or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in ambulatory healthcare environment required.

  • Previous experience in audiology or ENT department strongly preferred.

  • Previous experience with hearing aids and assistive listening devices preferred.

Pay Range:

$19.22 - $26.91

PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
