Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, an Audiologist 2 will provide outpatient and inpatient audiological services to individuals of all ages from infants to geriatrics. The TH Audiologist 2 will work collaboratively with speech and hearing and ENT staff and other Hospital and community professionals to provide expert care to the patients at Stony Brook. This position will work to assist to develop programs and educate students.

Duties of the Audiologist 2 may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Perform hearing tests for all ages from infants to adults with a primary emphasis on pediatrics from 0-3 years. Procedures include but are not limited to behavioral hearing assessment, immittance, Otoacoustic Emissions, threshold Auditory Brainstem Response and Newborn Hearing Screenings. Provide appropriate recommendations to the patient and family.

  • Perform cochlear implant and other implantable device evaluations and programming. Participate with program development in conjunction with the Department Head and the Director of Neurotology.

  • Provide vestibular assessments, including but not limited to Videonystagmography, Electrocochleography and Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential. Perform diagnostic Auditory Brainstem Response testing.

  • Assess children with Auditory Processing concerns and provide accurate recommendations to the family and the school, based on history and results.

  • Perform training and supervision of audiology students.

Qualifications

Required: Doctorate of Audiology. At least 1 year of full-time pediatric audiology experience or the equivalent of 1 year. Adult audiology experience. Pediatric assessment experience of children from 0-3 years. Experience with threshold Auditory Brainstem Response and performing cochlear implant services. Responsible, flexible, ability to work in a team environment and friendly. American Speech and Hearing Association certification. NYS license in Audiology.

Preferred: 2 or more years of full-time pediatric audiology experience or the equivalent. Some degree of competence in performing threshold Auditory Brainstem Response testing and cochlear implant assessment and programming. Experience with Videonystagmography, Electrocochleography, Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*

  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.

  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*

  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.

  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

  • The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as - $85,000 - $105,000 Base *Prorated to .8 FTE

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Some positions offer shift differentials for Night ($3,700) & Evening ($2,500) as well as $575 for inconvenience for positions not on day shift. Please visit these links to learn more.
