About the Job:
This position acts in the role of Audiologist for the Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education and provides audiological services to children ages birth through school exit. The audiologist in this position develops and provides resources to families and professionals and is a primary point of contact for provision of technical assistance and support throughout the state; frequent day travel is required. The audiologist in this position is expected to possess or obtain a Certificate of Clinic Competence (CCC-A) with the American Speech Language Hearing Association, Indiana First Steps credentialing, and become a provider for the Hearing Aid Assistance Program of Indiana (HAAPI). This position will work as a leader in Indiana along with other State-employed staff members, including Educational Consultants and Early Interventionists, to ensure continuity of care, enhance the likelihood of successful outcomes for children/students who are deaf or hard of hearing, and assurance that programming is aligned with the Center's Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Provide comprehensive audiological assessments individually and with assistance to identify children with hearing loss or establish stability of hearing loss
Select, dispense, and manage appropriate amplification for children ages 0-3 and for children accepted for hearing aid dispensing through the Hearing Aid Assistance Program of Indiana (HAAPI) program
Evaluate and monitor auditory function through assessment of auditory skills development and performance with amplification
Provide fitting, verification, and monitoring of DM devices and other assistive technology as appropriate
Provide educationally relevant audiological assessments to children ages three through school exit
Participate on Assessment team for multi-disciplinary assessments of children as needed and work with The Center's Educational Consultants to provide co-services as needed
Complete written reports of individual and team evaluations for children tested/evaluated, including accurate and clear documentation of correspondence with parents and outside agencies and clear and concise explanation of evaluation results and other knowledge of child that may be incorporated into Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or shared at Case Conference Committee meetings
Provide technical assistance to parents, early intervention specialists, and school districts as needed
Work collaboratively with Center, Data, and EHDI staff to determine outcome metrics for educational audiology
Work with school districts as a primary point of contact for provision of technical assistance and resources and to support students throughout the state by making recommendations related to children's needs, including appropriate accommodations, related services, and advocacy skill development
Facilitate and conduct evaluations of school assistive hearing devices (e.g., DM systems)
Conduct classroom assessments related to auditory access (e.g., Functional Listening Assessments (FLEs), classroom acoustics)
Participate in Case Conferences (face to face, by telephone, or web conference)
Provide professional presentations on an occasional basis
Represent The Center at various functions as determined by director or supervisor through collaborative activities, networking and consulting with agencies, early intervention, educational and medical professionals
Participate in special projects as assigned by the Director or immediate supervisor
Share resources for children who are deaf or hard of hearing with parents, professionals, and agencies throughout Indiana

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:
Graduate degree in audiology
Indiana audiology licensure or immediate eligibility for lndiana licensure (Indiana Professional Licensing Agency
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A), American Speech Language and Hearing Association
Background and experience with pediatrics and difficult-to-test populations
Strong commitment to child/student-focused services with an emphasis on assisting students, families and schools with outcomes, goals, and objectives that can be part of a child's Individualized Family Service Plan or student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
Ability to communicate effectively with parents, early interventionists, schools, and other professionals
Willingness to frequently travel, working on Center's mobile unit and on-site in schools throughout the state
Ability to attend to and synthesize information and express perceptions and recommendations as well as mentor professionals
Knowledge of state systems and programs serving children who are deaf and hard of hearing and pertinent federal and state regulations regarding early hearing detection and intervention, early intervention, and deaf education
Ability to analyze complex problems and make sound resolutions of problems
Ability to anticipate problems that would create barriers to achieving goals and initiate corrective action
Ability to listen and synthesize information and express perceptions and recommendations to both parents/guardians and other professionals effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to work well with clinical audiologists, in all areas of the state
Ability to establish priorities, set deadlines and manage multiple tasks related to audiology caseload, reports, communications and inside and outside meetings and appointments
Ability to support all communication choices, adhere to the CDHHE Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles and the ability to work well with a diverse staff
Strong interest in being part of a team comprised of professionals, parents and deaf and hard of hearing individuals who work together to provide exemplary statewide services and model programming for others to follow
