The Audiologist is responsible for the testing, evaluating and prescribing treatment of hearing disorders. The incumbent provides a full range of consultative and rehabilitative audiologist services to patients and their families. The incumbent works collaboratively with other staff.
The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards.
The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.
Must be licensed by the State of Maine as an Audiologist. Knowledge of anatomy & physiology with an ability to understand of audio logic disorders and patient prognosis to develop appropriate treatment plans required.
Excellent communication skills are needed as the incumbent must communicate technical or complex information to patients and their families in easily understandable terms; educate patients on effective hearing techniques and demonstrate ability to motivate patients to participate in treatment plans. Ability to write reports and to document patients progress accurately. Ability to apply written guidelines and work practices to make decisions and prepare recommendations.
Math skills are required to perform specific mathematical computations. Demonstrated knowledge of testing and diagnostic equipment required, with the ability to operate and maintain equipment. Excellent interpersonal skills are required as the incumbent's interactions directly affect patient care. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public.
