Broadcast Electronic and Communication Arts (BECA)
This is a one year probationary position.
Monday to Friday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Anticipated Hiring Range*
$4,500.00 - $5,000.00 per month ($54,000.00 - $60,000.00 Annually).
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Reporting to the chair of Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts (BECA), the Audio Technician installs, repairs and maintains audio/visual and broadcast systems for the BECA Department and the College of Liberal and Creative Arts.
Design, fabricate, modify, calibrate, maintain, and repair electronic equipment and systems, both analog and digital.
Install, operate, and remove electronic audio/video and multimedia components and systems in various laboratories, theatres, and other areas within the College of Liberal and Creative Arts requiring audio expertise.
Identify and attend technical workshops and training sessions as necessary to remain up-to date with changing technology.
Procure and inventory parts as supplies as necessary in support of ongoing work.
Other duties as assigned
Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in construction, installation, maintenance, repair and operation of equipment in the area of audio technician; knowledge of the repair and maintenance of tools and shop equipment
Ability to perform complex troubleshooting; ability to design, fabricate, modify and repair technical equipment for broadcasting following original or suggested plans
ability to analyze equipment problems and determine what repairs are needed;
ability to install, place, and maintain equipment related to broadcasting and electronic communication
ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position, ability to make arithmetic computations where required.
Equivalent to three years journey-level or skilled experience in maintenance, repair, operation, analysis installation or fabrication of audio/visual and broadcast equipment; ability to analyze equipment problems and determine necessary repairs, follow plans.
Understanding and experience with digital equipment.
Journey level electronic and mechanical troubleshooting skill in all facets of electronic equipment component level repair.
Working with and relating to college and other university personnel
Digital audio Computer hardware and software systems (PC and Macintosh based)
In addition to the experience requirement, a degree in Electronic and Broadcast Arts or a closely related field is desired.
