Summary:

The intern will leverage their passion for music and sound design, their expertise in Unreal Engine, and object-based mixing to craft captivating soundscapes for Cosm's immersive entertainment experiences. Working closely with the team, they'll create and implement audio elements seamlessly, integrating visuals and interactivity. This includes everything from environmental sounds and dynamic effects to music and spatial audio games, all within a dynamic 3D soundscape that reacts to the player and environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Craft Immersive Soundscapes: Utilize knowledge of Unreal Engine and object-based mixing to design and implement captivating audio for a specific Cosm immersive entertainment project.

  • Collaborate with the Creative Team: Work closely with designers, artists, and programmers to ensure audio seamlessly integrates with the narrative, gameplay mechanics, and visuals of the project.

  • Develop Diverse Audio Elements: Create and implement a variety of audio assets for the project, including environmental sounds, dynamic sound effects, impactful music integration, and spatial audio cues.

  • Optimize Audio for Interactivity: Leverage object-based mixing techniques to position sounds within the 3D world of Cosm, ensuring the soundscape reacts and adapts to player actions and the evolving environment.

  • Refine and Iterate: Participate in testing and feedback loops, refining and iterating on the audio based on playtesting and team input to achieve optimal sonic immersion.

Experience:

  • Junior or Senior or Graduate Student at the start of the program.

  • Available to work in a Cosm Office (hybrid).

  • Available to work 20 hours per week during the defined Intern period.

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Interest in immersive technology and content.

  • Passion for Games and Entertainment: Possess a deep appreciation for the impact of audio in immersive experiences.

  • Passion for Music of multiple styles and genres.

  • Unreal Engine Proficiency: Demonstrated experience working with Unreal Engine's audio tools and blueprints.

  • WWise Proficiency: Understanding of object-based mixing concepts and their applications

  • Object-Based Mixing Knowledge: Understanding of object-based mixing concepts and their application in creating dynamic soundscapes.

  • Strong Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with designers, artists, and programmers to achieve a cohesive audio-visual experience.

  • An online portfolio of work, including professional, school, and/or personal projects

The hourly pay for this position is $16.90/hr.
