ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Research laws and regulations that govern employers sponsoring employee benefit plans and advise on same for internal team members.
Review health and welfare plan-related documents, such as SPDs, BAAs, NDAs, and vendor contracts.
Review and negotiate commercial contracts and maintain template forms.
Research and respond to employee inquiries on compliance issues for clients and, where appropriate, participate in client communications regarding those inquiries.
Assist with RFP responses and review of marketing materials.
Create white papers and compliance content for use by internal team and clients; ensure content regularly updated as needed.
May attend and present at sales presentations regarding benefits compliance program.
Assist with coordination of compliance reviews for self-insured plans.
May conduct HIPAA training and assist with HIPAA compliance, including obtaining Business Associate Agreements and reviewing vendor privacy and security policies and audits.
Ensure regulatory compliance; investigate and respond to regulatory inquiries on behalf of the agency.
Coordinate litigation and responses to discovery, as needed.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
3-7 years of related experience preferably in a similar position
An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience
