Job Description and Duties

State Fund Corporate Legal plays a crucial role in supporting State Fund's mission by representing the organization in administrative and court disputes, offering legal advice, representation, and training to high-level executives, internal partners, and other state departments across various areas of business, insurance and government law.
We are actively seeking a highly experienced litigation attorney with proven track record of first chair trial and jury trial experience in State or Federal Courts.
Under the direction and supervision of an Assistant Chief Counsel, you will:
Represent State Fund in handling/litigating the most complex, sensitive, and difficult civil cases
Provide corporate advice and transactional matters and assignments necessary to defending and reducing State Fund's legal exposure
Handle civil litigation before State or Federal Courts, administrative agencies, and arbitration boards and/or representation in connection with corporate advice matters and transactions
Participate and act in a lead capacity on "project" type work where matters have been consolidated and coordination of multiple parties/issues is necessary
Conduct contract review and negotiation; addressing regulatory matters; participating in task forces and legal projects, and conducting legal research
Advice State Fund's Directors, Executives, Officers, Managers, Attorneys, Employees and Representatives, and stakeholders.
The Attorney V will act as lead attorney and does not supervise attorney staff. The Attorney V may act in a lead capacity on cases, including the assignment and delegation of tasks, and mentor over Attorney IV, Attorney III and Attorney as necessary.
New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement to alternate salary range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.
