SALARY

The minimum salary is $73,097.44 annually.

This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to provide legal representation and legal counsel to the Lexington-

Fayette Urban County Government, its departments, divisions, boards, officials, and employees.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Juris Doctorate. No experience required.

• Must be a member of the Kentucky Bar, or have the ability to become a member within six (6)

months of employment for permanent appointment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Researches, drafts and reviews documents including motions and other court pleadings,

memoranda of law, legal briefs, contracts, internal policies and other communications

• Advises departments, divisions, boards, officials and employees on legal questions and concerns

• Represents LFUCG in court and other legal proceedings

• Prepares legislation

• Performs related work as assigned
