D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Attorney for their Legal Department. The right candidate will conduct civil lawsuits, draw up legal documents, advise clients as to legal rights, and practice other phases of law by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice related to real estate acquisition and disposition and related development matters, including reviewing and drafting contracts and related documents, reviewing entitlement matters, consulting and coordinating with Company personnel and Regional counsel, as necessary.

  • Review due diligence related to real estate lot and land acquisition and development, consulting and coordinating with Company personnel, as necessary.

  • Review environmental matters related to real estate.

  • Review real estate leases and related matters.

  • Review and provide legal advice on home sale matters; provide legal advice regarding RESPA and other compliance matters.

  • Interact daily with personnel across the Company regarding a broad array of compliance issues encountered in the home building industry, residential rental and the mortgage and title businesses.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None initially.

Education and/or Experience

  • Jurist Doctoral degree (J.D.).

  • 3 years of experience drafting and negotiating complex real estate agreements. Experience as real estate attorney in leading law firm is preferred.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and negotiate effectively.

  • Certifications: Jurist Doctor, Licensed Attorney
