Our Enforcement Division's staff attorney must be a self-starter, with a positive outlook, who is detail oriented and enjoys working with a team. The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as excellent time management skills.

As the division staff attorney, you will be a part of a team of compliance officers and criminal investigators who work with businesses operating in Georgia to assure compliance under the Workers' Compensation Law, to deter fraud through education, public relations and investigations, and to enforce the rules and regulations of the Workers' Compensation Board. In cases of non-compliance, you will litigate the cases in hearings before the Board's Administrative Law Judge, draft and file the appropriate documents with the court, prepare witnesses for hearings and when appropriate, negotiate settlement of cases.

You will also serve as the Board's liaison with the Attorney General's office for the collection of Board-imposed fines and penalties. In support of the Board's mission to educate and provide excellent public relations, you will have the opportunity to represent the Board as needed on committees, in meetings and at training events.

Minimum Training & Experience: Completion of a law degree AND License to practice law in the State of Georgia OR Eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination OR Reciprocity.

Juris Doctorate in a related area from an accredited college or university and license to practice law in the State of Georgia or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination followed by Georgia Bar exam passage and licensure to practice law in the State of Georgia within one (1) year of hiring or reciprocity and three (3) years of relevant legal experience; or three (3) years of experience required at the lower-level Attorney 3 (LEP022).
