Additional Salary Information: This is an OPS yearly salaried position that will be on a yearly renewal basis based on qualifications and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The University of South Florida (USF), a member of the American Athletic Conference, is currently accepting applications for the position of Athletics Photographer. The position will be housed in the athletics external services department, under Branding & Content Creation, while reporting to the Associate Athletic Director, Branding & Digital Strategy.

The selected candidate contributes to the overall goals of USF Athletics by capturing moments and engaging content that tells the story of our athletics programs and student-athletes through photo.

The Athletics Photographer will assist in coverage/support for all photography-related requests and collaborates with other creative staff to elevate departmental initiatives while ensuring a cohesive style across all department photography.

Reporting to the Assoc. AD / Branding & Digital Strategy, the USF Athletics Photographer will capture moments and engaging content that tells the story of our athletics programs and student-athletes through photo.

The position will cover athletics games, events, studio & recruiting shoots, as well as other events as needed at the direction of the Assoc. AD / Branding & Digital Strategy. Additionally, the selected candidate will support and manage the department's digital archive, performing accurate editing, correction, metadata tagging & photo organization.

This role will work closely with various groups in external relations, including but not limited to communications, marketing, development, and ticket sales. Adheres to all NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.

DUTIES:

  • Support and manage the department's digital archive, performing accurate editing, correction and photo organization

  • Collaborate with other athletics photographers, student interns and freelance staff to ensure adequate coverage, events and functions and a cohesive style across all department photography

  • Attend and take photos at photoshoots, recruiting shoots, department events and competitions as assigned

  • Assist in the coordination of photoshoots for each sport program, providing both sport staff and external areas with high-quality headshot, portrait-style photographs and other styles as assigned

  • Participate in new content development and idea generation to help drive the USF Athletics brand

  • Collaborate with creative staffs to develop creative direction and assist in its execution with student-athletes at photoshoots

  • Collaborate with departmental stakeholders including but not limited to Communications, Marketing, Creative Content and coaching staffs to continually align and elevate departmental initiatives

  • Special projects and assignments as business dictates.

  • Performance of other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or requested by your supervising administrator, department head or senior administrators. May be required to work non-traditional work hours in the evenings and/or weekends as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in graphic design, photography, communications or related field with professional photography experience that includes in-game sport photography and studio or location photoshoots; Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for associate's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and two years' experience working in college athletics or professional sports that includes professional in-game sport photography and studio or location photoshoots. Knowledge of wireless file transmitting and photo metadata tagging.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Adobe software.

Skills & Experience:

  • Associates degree in graphic design, photography, communications, or related field is preferred.

  • Experience with in-game sport photography and studio or location photoshoots

  • Familiarity with wireless file transmitting, FTP systems and photo metadata tagging

  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
