Responsible forassisting Parks and Recreation customers with registration and inquiries, monitoring activities, and assisting other Parks and Recreation facilities in a friendly and professional manner.

Essential Functions and Other Important Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES

  • Prepare and assist with athletic facilities for various leagues, clinics, tournaments, special events and other athletic programs.

  • Serve as scorekeeper during league and tournament play; keep accurate player participation logs during youth league play.

  • Collect and maintain player waiver, roster, and all related documentation for all league play.

  • Monitor athletic facilities;enforcedepartment, site, and program rules and/or regulations, and safety precautions.

  • Perform administrative duties, including but not limited to, greeting customers, assist with addressing and resolving customer questions and concerns, assist with athletic administration paperwork and registration, appropriately directing internal and external customers, and perform cash handling responsibilities for admission tickets, souvenirs, and concessions sales; escalate issues to supervisor, as appropriate.

  • Provide care and protection for patrons, including responding immediately to emergencies and administering first aid as necessary; legibly complete incident and accident reports.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment for patronsincluding but not limited to, equipment, materials, gyms, and/or fields; ensure appropriate items are accessible, appropriate and in good condition for use.

  • Count and maintain inventory reports for concessions, pro shop, and equipment; follow inventory policies and procedures.

  • May act as referee, as necessary.

  • May required to work at and/or during other Parks and Recreation programs or events.

DRIVING RANGE

  • Perform front-desk operations, including but not limited to, entering registrations, and selling driving range dispenser codes and concessions.

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the Driving Range clubhouse; ensure programs and lessons are run smoothly.

  • Pick up range balls and washes range balls by utilizing equipment (driving of golf cart with picker attachment and washing using golf ball washer machine).

  • Assists patrons in creation and reloading of Member Cards for use at the golf ball dispenser.

TENNIS

  • Perform front-desk operations, including but not limited to, provide phone, electronic and face-to-face support to customers, registers participants for programs, and book.

  • Set up tennis ball machine, as needed.

SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; and,
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age; and,
  • Must have or obtain Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult CPR, AED & First Aid Certification designated timeframe outlined for program/within thirty (30) days of employment (online training is not valid),

OR

  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws parks and recreation, as well as City of Denton policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of leisure, social, health and legal needs of individuals with and without disabilities at all age levels.

  • Knowledge of CPR/AED first aid procedures.

  • Skill in problem solving; identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Skill at the beginner level, working with Microsoft Office 365, and other software systems to complete work.

  • Skill in providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Skill in interpersonal relationships, including using tact, patience, and courtesy.

  • Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations with accuracy.

  • Skill in operating 10-key adding machines, cash registers and balancing cash drawer.

  • Ability to remain calm with coaches, players and spectators, and make appropriate decisions during league play.

  • Ability to work independently to manage multiple work tasks while balancing competing priorities with attention to detail and in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and confidentiality.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written forms, for the needs of the audience.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing work environment to facilitate/accomplish needed activities.

  • Ability to prepare and maintain reports.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law).

  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification.

  • Must pass a physical examination.

  • Must have or obtain Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult CPR, AED & First Aid Certification designated timeframe outlined for program/within thirty (30) days of employment (online training is not valid).

  • If Concessions, must obtain, and maintain Cash Policy 403.01 certification within six (6) months of employment.

  • If Concessions, must obtain, and maintain City of Denton Food Handling Training within six (6) months of employment.

  • If for Preschool positions, must be able to pass FBI fingerprinting and background check as required by TXDFPS childcare licensing.

  • Must completed required 24-30 hours of DFPS training.

  • Must meet the Texas Department of Family and Protective Service (TXDFPS) Minimum Standards of Care for Child-Care Centers within 12 months of employment.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements

SAFETY

  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.

  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

  • Promptly report unsafe conditions in work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): Yes.

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; additional items may include but are not limited to, cash register,first aid supplies,recreational and sports equipment, tables, and chairs.

  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.

  • Lifting: Lifting no more than 50 pounds and carrying up to 25 pounds.

  • Environment: Works inside and outside with exposure to inclement weather, heat, cold noise, debris, and odor; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.

  • Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.

  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.Must be able to work overtime, nights and/or weekends, as required.

  • Must be available for position trainings during the designated timeframe outlined for program.
