Description:

The Athletic Training Instructor teaches courses according to need in the Athletic Training program, advises students, assists in recruiting efforts, and participates in various departmental duties as needed, and assigned. The instructor will provide both face-to-face instruction and distance learning courses.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide instruction in athletic training, kinesiology, and physical education courses.

The faculty member will be required to meet all scheduled classes prepared to provide instruction; prepare teaching syllabi for courses of study; prepare materials to adequately evaluate student progress; report midterm and final grades when appropriate; maintain accurate and adequate records; and establish regular office hours for student consultation.

The faculty member performs other related duties as assigned, which duties include but are not necessarily limited to advising students on academic curricula; serving on faculty committees; participating in faculty meetings; providing recommendations for preparation of departmental or school budgets; participating in the development of departmental curricula; and adhering to all institutional policies.

The faculty member will remain current in the field(s) for which they are hired by reading current literature, communicating with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.

Additional departmental or school assignments will be established where appropriate.

Essential Duties:

  • Teach a full range of courses, with exact course assignments determined by the strengths of the particular candidate and the needs of the department(s).

  • Incorporate appropriate technology into courses and assignments.

  • Maintain office hours, attend faculty and division meetings, serve on committees as requested, and keep accurate records.

  • Prepare syllabi and schedules for each course.

  • Develop lesson plans.

  • Procure appropriate materials needed for course instruction.

  • Report student grade data through Moodle.

  • Utilize active learning strategies to assist the learner in meeting the course objectives.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Administration, School, or Department.

Work Environment:

Typical work environment is a classroom, lab, and office setting requiring normal safety precautions. Work is typically performed during the normal workday; however, occasional early morning, late evening, and weekend work may be required. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors traveling between campus buildings in various weather conditions. May also require visits to clinical sites used by athletic training students.

Physical Demands:

Employee must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use a computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Athletic training or closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.

  • Wyoming state licensed athletic trainer or eligible to obtain

  • The successful candidate must meet Higher Learning Commission requirements prior to employment.

  • A commitment to teaching excellence and demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness.

  • A commitment to the mission of community colleges.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching at the college level.

  • Provide instruction in more than one academic discipline.
