EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Any combination equivalent to: two years college-level course work in physical education, athletic training or a related field and one year of experience involving the care, management and prevention of athletic injuries.LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Valid certifications provided by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or District approved provider for First Aid, Adult/Child CPR and AED. Online certifications will be accepted from these vendors as long as a hands-on skills assessment is completed. Recertification to maintain current/valid status is a condition of employment.National Athletic Trainers Association Certification required.KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:KNOWLEDGE OF:Practices, procedures and equipment used in the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.Safety guidelines and regulations in athletic and therapeutic activities.Individualized rehabilitation and reconditioning techniques and procedures for injured students.First aid and CPR techniques.Oral and written communication skills.Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.Basic record-keeping and report preparation techniques.ABILITY TO:Provide assistance to students in the prevention of athletic injuries.Tape and wrap athletes to prevent injury or re-injury.Identify, evaluate and provide immediate first aid in response to athletic injuries.Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation and reconditioning for injured students.Assure student understanding of proper exercise techniques.Operate first aid and adaptive equipment.Understand and follow oral and written directions.Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Operate athletic rehabilitation and weight equipment.Maintain records and prepare reports
