This individual will be working with providers(s) in an outpatient clinic under the supervision of the clinic/practice manager and provider(s). The ATC will perform duties associated with direct patient care in accordance with the organization standards. The ATC will assist the providers with in-office procedures, treatments, casting, patient education, and assuring efficient patient flow. Patient education will range from explaining next steps in the treatment plan, to educate patients through a home exercise program or bracing. This individual may perform computerized provider order entry per provider. The ATC participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve set outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. This position may perform duties associated with symptom-management, direct in-clinic patient care, telehealth patient care, quality improvement activities and other duties as assigned.
Job Duties:
Clinic or procedure chart prepping:
Reviewing scheduled patients to ensure they are scheduled with the correct provider
Calling for imaging to be pushed to the IU Health cloud for provider access.
Reviewing previous exams (imaging, labs, etc) or provider appointments
Rooming: vitals, history, physical exam (range of motion evaluations, special testing for respective area, evaluation of visual changes), presenting differential diagnoses to physician
Ordering x-ray exams based on provider protocol
Placing needed orders per provider in the EMR for PT, MRI/CT, lab work, etc.
Managing incoming and outgoing referrals
Preparing and assisting with in office procedures (Injections, aspirations, ultrasound exams, PRP, etc.)
Triaging and addressing patient calls and portal messages
Manage paperwork including, but not limited to FMLA, disability, workers comp, etc.
Creating, demonstrating, and prescribing a home exercise program
Coordinating communication between the physical therapy and providers
Communicating with outreach athletic trainers to assist in facilitating student athlete appointments

Prescription Education and Review
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Athletic Training is required.
Indiana State Athletic Training Licensure or eligible required.
Must be a Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer.
AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross Professional Rescuer required.
Other certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
0-3 years of experience required.
