Job Description:
Under the guidance of the Director of Sports Medicine & Student-Athlete Support, the Athletic Trainer will help serve approximately 300 OCC student-athletes during the academic year by providing quality emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation for injured student-athletes in order to minimize and prevent injuries.
Responsibilities:
Performs acute injury evaluations for student-athletes and maintain appropriate injury records.
Makes appropriate emergency referrals or provide treatment and care for student-athletic injuries as necessary.
Assists in implementing preventive and rehabilitation programs to treat athletic injuries; inform coaching staff on the status of injuries and treatment plans.
Provides game and practice coverage as assigned by the Director for Sports Medicine and Student-Athlete Support.
Assists with reviewing pre-participation physical exam paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
Develops and maintains working relationships with coaches, staff and designated team physicians.
Assists with the supervision of Federal Work Study students.
Hours vary and will include nights and weekends based on intercollegiate practices and game schedules.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or related field of study
Certified by the NATA BOC
Eligibility for New York State Athletic Training Licensure
Current First Aid/CPR-AED Professional Rescuer Certification
Experience in the field of athletic training
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to effectively assess and evaluate injuries and their severity
Knowledge of athletic training supplies and equipment and the skilled use of first aid procedures
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with students, coaches, staff and volunteers
Ability to work under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

This is an exempt position with a 10-month (August - May) salary of $50,000.
