Support head coaches and athletic teams by providing injury evaluation, athletic training, and rehabilitation services for student athletes. Work requires the exercise of independent judgment and analysis in decision-making in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for daily operations of the athletic training room.

  • Provide prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for injuries to student athletes.

  • Design and implement pre-habilitation and post injury rehabilitation for the student athletes.

  • Coordinate with physicians/medical personnel and insurance on care of student athletes.

  • Injury reporting, documentation, and maintenance of medical charts.

  • Daily management of training room, including maintenance and storage of supplies and equipment.

  • Ensuring safety of patients and staff through enforcement of safety procedures.

  • Appropriate training and adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Continued education in sports medicine and maintaining good standing with NATA Board of Certification.

  • Assist in team sport supervision.

  • Requires flexible hours to work most nights and weekends for practice and games. Frequent travel to each campus is required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Compliance with all state, federal, and athletic standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Athletic Training, or related field.

Preferred Education: Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Athletic Training, or related field.

Required Experience: Two (2) years of experience as an Athletic Trainer.

Preferred Experience: Three (3) years of experience as an Athletic Trainer.

Required License/Certification: Current Athletic Trainer (ATC) by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification, State of Wisconsin Athletic Training License (or eligible to obtain before the date of hire), CPR/AED First Aid Certification. Valid Driver's Licenses.

Preferred License/Certification: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

  • Knowledge of clinical information and appointment systems.

  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and biomechanics.

  • General knowledge of insurance claims.

  • Knowledge of advanced manual therapy skills applicable to orthopedics and sports medicine.

  • Ability to provide proper injury evaluation, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for athletic injuries.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to collaborate with staff, coaches, and students.

  • Ability to work extended hours.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical Demands:  Ability to lift up to 15 lbs., carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and ability pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear and speak.

  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 45% of time spent sitting, 40 % of time standing, and 15 % of time walking.
