(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.

Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Supervises the overall medical care for student-athletes. Provides medical coverage for athletic events. Oversees Athletic Trainer Interns and student athletic trainers in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for the overall prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and daily health care for assigned student-athletes

  2. Responsible for maintaining up to date HIPAA compliant medical records

  3. Responsible for administrative tasks assigned by the department leadership

  4. Establishes and executes institutional policies pertaining to the care of the student-athletes

  5. Maintains frequent and effective communication with medical and athletic department staff

  6. Serves as subject matter expert for applicable and appropriate aspects of the Athletic Training service

  7. Educates athletes on injuries, concussions, at-home care, and purpose of specified rehab protocol

  8. Works individually with athletes to tailor rehabilitation and prevention measures per individual needs and goals

  9. Makes referrals to appropriate medical professionals to ensure optimal level of care when necessary

  10. Maintains current policies, practices, protocols, and standing orders

  11. Works collaboratively with appropriate personnel to establish and maintain Emergency Action Plans for the facilities

  12. Maintains an inventory of supplies, including but not limited to medical and AT supplies, modalities, AEDs, medical kits, supplements, ATR cleanliness and organization

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Athletic Training or related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Other Required Qualifications

State of Georgia Athletic Training Licensure

NATABOC Certification

First Aid/CPR/AED certification

Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license

Required Experience

On-the-job training provided

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience

Experience in collegiate sports athletic training or rehabilitation

Previous relevant experience in athletic training in a post-secondary level program or professional training in a related sports program

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

Able to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA, FERPA, etc.) in matters relating to employees, community members, patients, family, and visitors

Able to effectively integrating university and department policy into care practices

Able to maintain a strong working relationship with the supervising physician and/or practice

Able to develop and maintain professional contacts and resources that support work productivity

Able and willing to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the area(s) of responsibility

Able to adhere to and ensure compliance with all HIPPA standards and regulations

KNOWLEDGE

Familiarity with NCAA rules and compliance standards

Knowledge and experience with software related to healthcare management

Knowledge of standards and best practices in sports medicine

Knowledge of conservative RTP interpretation, emerging techniques and skills, current industry research, data results, and application

Understands industry standards and accepted practices

Experience with empowering and motivating students

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)

Strong treatment tracking and notes

Strong attention to detail and follow up skills

Strong customer service skills and phone etiquette
