Description:
The athletic trainer will perform services that fall within the scope of practice with the Board of Certification/N.A.T.A. and the NJ Board of Medical Examiners. General services included in the job are injury prevention, first aid and injury management, injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, and keeping current documentation. The athletic trainer will work directly with the school physician, school nurses, coaches, and administration. The athletic trainer is responsible for caring/treating the students in both the middle and the high school when participating in athletics.
Qualifications:
State Board of Examiners & Certification, N.J.A.C. 6A:9B
Possess and maintain a New Jersey Athletic Training License through the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs
Possess and maintain certification in CPR, AED Use, and First Aid
Responsible to:
Athletic Director; subsequent to adopted Chain of Command
Performance Responsibilities:
Supervise athletic training room by maintaining medical kits for all teams and seasons, and maintaining inventory of athletic training supplies;
Provide proficient injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, and remain proficient in recognizing injury severity and the necessity for calling additional help or resources;
Coordinate with administrators, coaches, and athletes to implement effective injury prevention programs;
Maintain current documentation for services provided and injuries;
Seek professional development opportunities, and utilize new knowledge and techniques in assigned and related fields;
Adhere with adopted federal laws, N.J.S.A. 18-A, N.J.A.C. 6-A, school policies and regulations, and contractual stipulations; act ethically and professionally in meeting job functions and responsibilities; and
Perform other such tasks and assume such responsibilities assigned by the Director/Supervisor, Principal and/or designee.
Terms of Employment:
Ten (10) month contract as approved by the CRSD Board of Education. Additional days may be required based on the district's needs. All other working terms and conditions of employment established within the AGREEMENT by and between THE CENTRAL REGIONAL BOARD OF EDUCATION and CENTRAL REGIONAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of state law and the provisions of the board's adopted policy on evaluations.
