Job Summary / Job Purpose

The Athletic Trainer provides exceptional patient care within the hospital and clinic setting under the direction of the Physician as a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team specialized in orthopedic and musculoskeletal care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with intake of patients including medical history, physical exam, preparations of imaging and any other intake requirements relating to office visit then communicates results to physician.

  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and other applicable providers to evaluate the patient's physical condition and advise a treatment plan and return to play considerations for the athlete.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local high schools, colleges, and various athletic organizations.

  • Provide discharge instructions and participation status, instructions for home exercise programs, schedules follow-up visits and makes referrals to other healthcare providers as prescribed by the treating physician's assistant.

  • Follow-up with patients and ensures ongoing communication with patients, school personnel, applicable allied healthcare professionals, parent/guardians, etc. as required.

  • Assist in the operating room within the scope of practice of an OTC/OTC-SC.

  • Assist with the fitting of durable medical goods and apply casts where needed.

  • Maintains clinical competence by attending continuing education classes each year.

  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine or similar required.

Athletic training license from Board of Certification Athletic Training Certification (BOC) required.

Orthopedic Technologist certification required.

Post Graduate Athletic Training Residency Program preferred.

Experience (required and preferred):
0 2 years athletic training experience required

Clinical Trainer Reporting to the Director, Care Management. The Clinical Trainer will play a critical role in ensuring that the integrated care management clinical staff including registered nurses, health educators, social workers, dieticians, and community health workers are prepared with the skills needed to succeed at the core competencies for their position. Who You'll Be Working With: This person will be responsible for various aspects of clinical training; including planning and analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The Clinical Trainer will work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand the scope, complexity, processes, services and vision for our care management and utilization management programs. What You'll Be Doing: * Collaborate with internal Population Health and Clinical Operations Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) * Apply instructional design skills and adult learning principles to the design of training programs; especially the design of scripts, scenarios, activities, role plays and exercises for training on support tools and the soft skills related to patient engagement (e.g., motivational interviewing, self-management support, transtheoretical model, shared decision making, etc.) * Develop instructor-led training materials; including participant guides, PowerPoint slides, job aids and other related materials * Deliver both new hire training and ongoing training which develops and enhances clinical team skills for nurses, health educators, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers and non-clinical staff that support the care management and utilization management functions * Collaborate with market teams to assess clinical training needs, develop appropriate trainings to meet the assessed needs, and evaluate training effectiveness * Pilot test all programs; revising accordingly before program launch * Evaluate training programs using the four levels of evaluation and reporting on results The Experience You'll Need (Required): * 3-5 years of clinical training experience in the field of case management (coordinating care across multiple settings and with multiple providers) required. * Current Nursing or Behavioral Health License * Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time Finishing Touches (Preferred): * Experience with training for utilization and care management * Instructional Design degree or certification preferred Evolent Health is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer Evolent Health, Inc.
