Works under the clinical supervision of the practice physician(s) and office manager and/or supervisor, and is responsible for assisting the physician and physician extenders in the practice. Communicates regularly with patients and may work with a variety of orthopedic specialties.

Demonstrates sufficient knowledge and skills to perform basic duties in the office clinic. Practices Baptist Health's mission of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to our patients and physicians.

Bachelors degree in Athletic Training required. BLScertification and Automated External Defibrillator Certification (AED)required.

State of Florida Department of Health license in AthleticTraining, certified by National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) Board ofCertification, Inc. in Athletic Training. Must be a professional, detail-oriented team player with effectiveinterpersonal communication skills. Confidentiality a must.

Proficient in computer applications and typing skills. Experience inElectronic Medical Record systems preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Obtains and verifies all patient demographics, insurance information and authorizations. Practices Baptist Health's mission of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to our patients and physicians. Coordinates all inpatient and outpatient surgeries within BMHG physician practice. Schedules initial, post-op and follow-up appointments. Schedules and coordinates medical clearances, pre-op testing, labs and surgical procedures by phone or in person. Ensures accurate scheduling utilizing current delineation of privileges. Enters and updates patient data in the computer system to maintain accuracy for data integrity. Contacts patient or referral source if demographic information is incomplete. Obtains insurance information and verifies insurance. Notifies leader of any insurance ineligibility issues. Verifies physician orders and obtains prescriptions as needed. Requests authorizations to avoid claim denials. Communicates with various hospital departments to coordinate pretesting and surgical procedures. Faxes surgical orders, histories and physicals and diagnostic testing results to the hospital. Confirms surgical clearance with other providers. Notifies appropriate person of any additions, cancellations, delays and/or emergencies. Prepares and assembles surgical packets for patient. Provides surgical instructions to patients. Discusses billing arrangements with patient. Returns patient calls in a timely manner. Relays appropriate information quickly, accurately, and courteously. Serves as administrative assistant to assigned physician. Manage physician calendar and arrange physician meetings and travel arrangements as needed. Ensures physician licenses and certifications are current. Completes all check requests and reimbursements for physician. Other duties as assigned. High School Diploma, Certificate of Attendance, Certificate of Completion, GED or equivalent training or experience required. Minimum 3 years of Healthcare experience required. Surgery experience preferred. Must be a professional, detail-oriented team player with effective interpersonal communication skills and excellent customer service skills. Must be organized and have ability to multi-task. Proficient in computer applications and scheduling systems (NetAccess, NextGen, etc). Bilingual required.
