Athletic Director

Duties

• Organizes and administers the overall program of extra-curricular athletics for the district.

• Hires, supervises, and evaluates staff within the Athletic Department.

• Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.

• Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all athletic and extracurricular events

• Assist with the general responsibility for the proper supervision of home events.

• Schedule and coordinate a variety of activities.

• Coordinates all event staff.

• Prepares and administers the athletic program budget.

• Assists in the selection and assignment of athletic coaches.

• Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants.

• Coordinates all athletic contest contracts.

• Administers the physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport, and verifies each athlete's eligibility.

• Plans and supervises recognition programs for school athletes.

• Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies.

• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

Qualifications

• Valid State of Illinois Administrative Certification (Type 75) recommended

• Coaching or experience in athletics.

• Possess knowledge and understanding of IHSA requirements.

• Possess knowledge of current trends, techniques, and rules for all sports.
