The Athletic Director will not coach; they will serve only in the role of Athletic Director.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist Principal in the interviewing and selection of coaches for the various sports within the school and provide corrective guidance to coaches as needed.

  • Ensure that all coaches are CPR/AED, sudden cardiac arrest, and concussion certified.

  • Create an evaluation process for school coaching staff.

  • Conduct coaches meetings regularly and attend athletic booster club meetings and monthly Athletic Director meetings.

  • Address and respond to parent concerns as they arise throughout the school year.

  • Ensure that supplements are processed on time for all coaches, including community coaches.

  • Ensure that all coaches complete required on-line rules clinics and any other required courses for coaches.

  • Inspect facilities on a consistent basis and contact Facilities & Maintenance Department to coordinate a schedule for cutting athletic fields.

  • Oversee maintenance of scoreboards.

  • Create emergency action plans and keep them updated for all venues.

  • Coordinate fundraising projects and complete fundraising forms for the school's athletic department.

  • Complete overnight/out of state athletic trip submissions via the online portal.

  • Determine, along with District Athletics Director or Coordinator, when to postpone or cancel practices and/or athletic events.

  • Organize indoor alternative practice schedules for teams during periods of inclement weather and serve as the building contact for head officials during inclement weather.

  • Maintain, in an organized fashion, all paperwork for physicals, insurance forms, heat forms, concussion forms, sudden cardiac arrest forms, NCAA forms, GHSA eligibility and OCR-Title IX.

  • Ensure that GHSA deadlines are met for each sport.

  • Work with bookkeeper or leave entry person to ensure that Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requirements are met.

  • Approve all purchase orders for athletics.

  • Update coaching roster on GHSA.net. (high school level only)

  • Serve as game administrator along with the administrative team.

  • Organize security and gate workers for athletic events as needed.

  • Ensure that check requests for referees and invoices for the Athletic Department are submitted in a timely fashion.

  • Coordinate repairs for machines or equipment in the indoor and outdoor concessions areas as needed.

  • Ensure that athletic information and for each sport is updated regularly on the school website.

  • Coordinate the planning for athletic banquets, including the ordering of letters, pins and certificates, and the printing of awards and certificates.

  • Ensure that athletic teams/coaches follow all guidelines and BOE policies and procedures.

  • Facilitate a school level student athlete advisory council in collaboration with the district SAAC.

  • Facilitate an athletic academy to promote academic progress for all athletes.

  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Hold or be eligible for a minimum of a Georgia Educator Certificate.

  • Must have head coaching experience.

  • Must join the Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA) and work towards Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) certification, and attend the state conference.

  • Must complete the NIAAA certification for athletic administrators.

  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community. Must be able to respond to inquiries or complaints.

  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.

  • Must have a proven track record of being highly organized with the ability to multi-task and problem solve.

  • Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.

  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.

  • Ability to be present at the physical worksite.

  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.

  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.

  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
