Athletic Director

Position Definition: The Athletic Director and Coordinator of Health & Physical Education plays a crucial role in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for students while fostering a positive and competitive athletic environment within the Branford Public Schools. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, as well as a deep commitment to the well-being and development of students. This is a 12-month position.

Essential Duties:

• Develop and implement a strategic vision for athletic programs.

• Coordinate and schedule athletic events.

• Supervise the health and physical education Department Lead and coaching staff ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

• Supervise and evaluate health and physical education teachers, in collaboration with building administrators.

• Provide administrative oversight for the development and ongoing improvement of health and physical education curriculum.

• Ensure alignment with standards and oversee instructional resources.

• Develop and manage budgets for athletics, physical education, and health.

• Foster positive relationships with parents, community members, and organizations.

• Support overall student development, emphasizing academic success and character building.

• Other duties as assigned.

Supervision received: This position reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools or designee

License or Certificate: 092 (required) and content areas 043, 44 (desired)

Salary per Branford Administrator Association Contract
