REPORTS TO: Director of Spa, Spa Manager, Spa SupervisorSUPERVISES: N/A.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Athletic Club and Pool Areas.Job involves working:* under variable temperature conditions.* under variable noise levels.* indoors.* around chemicals.KEY RELATIONSHIPS:Internal: Staff in Fitness Center, Grounds, Food and Beverage, Rooms, Housekeeping and Maintenance.External: Hotel guests/visitors, massage staff, personal trainer and Club members.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental and hotel policies, procedures and standards. * Check pools daily and administer chemicals when needed. * Regularly maintain pool and whirlpool. * Assist guests and members with the purchase of logo items and drinks. * Answer telephone according to Peabody Service Excellence practices. * Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended. * Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. * Maintain positive guest relations at all times. * Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. * Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas. * Maintain complete knowledge of:*
  • daily house count, VIPs in-house, arrivals/departures.* scheduled group activities and locations within hotel.* all hotel facilities and services.* hours of operation of each outlet.* all equipment and services available for guests at the Pool.* all safety and sanitation regulations for Pool facility. * Obtain clean towels from Laundry and transport to Pool; fold and stack towels. * Set up and organize workstation with designated supplies, forms and resource materials; report shortages to supervisor. * Be familiar with all hotel packages, promotions, prices and rates. * Perform opening procedures. * Maintain Cashier and Reception areas. * Greet guests. * Maintain knowledge of hours of operation, memberships, reservations, rentals, fees, products and merchandise. * Maintain towel/linen supply, locker rooms, steam room/sauna, FitnessCenter and Pool area. * Monitor guest safety. * Sell merchandise. * Practice loss prevention. * Price merchandise, according to guidelines established by Manager. * Display and stock merchandise. * Remove damaged/soiled merchandise. * Perform closing procedures. * Process closing reports. * Deposit work at Night Audit Drop Box. * Complete end of shift checklist. * Other duties as assigned by athletic club manager.SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS* Assist with other Fitness Center job functions as assigned. * Document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to Manager/Supervisor.STANDARD SPECIFICATIONSRequirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities.   • perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.* prioritize, organize and follow up.* be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.* follow directions thoroughly.* understand guests' service needs.* work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.* work with minimal supervision.* maintain confidentiality of guest information, associate information and pertinent hotel data.* satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers in a courteous, empathetic and discreet manner.* maintain pool and whirlpool using proper chemicals.* carry out all safety and emergency procedures.* maintain regular and punctual attendance.* adhere to Peabody grooming standards.* exemplify Peabody Service Excellence.Desirable:* 1 year experience working in a guest service position. * Experience with computers, calculators or word processors. * Experience in Hospitality Industry in similar position. * Previous guest relations training and experience * Knowledge in a second language. * Some athletic skill and knowledge preferred.PHYSICAL ABILITIESEssential: * Exert physical effort in transporting carts weighing up to 35 pounds to work areas. * Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas. * Reach varied distances. * Remain in stationary position for extended periods of time throughout work shift. * Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding. * Ability to move freely within Athletic Club. * Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. * Ability to push and/or pull a towel cart weighing 75 pounds, including up and down inclines.
