Major Duties and Responsibilities Benefits Supplemental Questions

Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Athletics Division. Set up and oversee short-term events, activities and programs.

Coordinate and oversee athletic officials during tournaments, sporting events and special athletic activities. Ensure league and tournament activities are executed properly and fairly in accordance with established guidelines. Assist in the maintenance and operation of equipment used for athletic programs/events.

Stay abreast of procedures, rules and regulations of national athletics associations. Register participants and collect fees. Promote athletics and respond to inquiries about specific programs.

Attend and participate in staff meetings for event coordination and planning. Maintains records to ensure continuous improvements. Takes initiative and uses independent judgment.

Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations, work processes; and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer-driven service. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of athletic principles, rules and regulations. Knowledge of basic budgetary principles and practices.

Ability to communicates effectively and solve problems. Ability to multitask and meet guidelines.


Minimum Educational and Training

Requirements:

Ability to read, writes, and performs mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.

Physical Requirements:

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. Frequently lifts objects less than 24 pounds and occasionally lifts objects 25 pounds or more.

Uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color. The work is typically performed in a very noisy place where the employee is exposed too much noise, dust, dirt, grease, etc. Work is performed outdoors and occasionally in cold, or inclement weather.

Arranges, participates, supervises and carries out short-term recreation programs. Organizes daily menus, prepare and serves meals. Assists supervisor in the coordination of large programs. Assists in the maintenance and operation of equipment used for recreation programs. Addresses complaints or concerns from the public; provides conflict-resolution within area of responsibility. Interacts with various groups to ensure effective use of facilities and programs. Prepares reports, memos and correspondence. Officiate recreation program games and contests. Transports participants. Assists in securing, opening and closing recreation centers. Uses existing community resources to plan activities and field trips such as athletic classes, art classes and short field trips. Registers participants and collects fees as required. Promotes program activities through the development and distribution of informational materials. Maintains records about program activities and participants. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Reports work progress periodically. Provides instruction of available recreation programs and classes. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of principles and practices of recreational programming in area of assignment. Knowledge of record keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques. Knowledge of rules and regulations of athletic and recreational games. Knowledge of food preparation, maintenance of kitchen supplies, accessories and equipment. Skill in cooking and preparing meals for the program. Skill in organizing and serving scheduled meals. Skill in cleaning. Skill in officiating sporting events. Skill in problem solving and decision-making. Skill in understanding, interpreting and communicating complicated policies, procedures and protocols. Skill in oral and written communication. Minimum Educational and Training Requirements: High School Diploma or GED; one year of related experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the job. Must possess a valid driver's license. Physical Requirements: The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color.
