Position Summary Information
Duties
The Assistant Director will support the Athens State TEACH Director with administrative oversight of the program. This position is responsible for managing a grant budget and ensuring compliance with state educator preparation and teacher certification standards and programmatic licensure requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage the annual budget and ensure budget process and expenditure compliance
Write and submit budget reports to regulatory agencies
Oversee Athens State TEACH grants, scholarships, and stipends
Analyze, interpret, and provide response to regulations and policy related to educator licensure, certification, and accreditation requirements for organizational compliance
Maintain records of relevant data related to the program's regulatory compliance
Provide support to resolve student issues related to credentialing
Serve as the liaison to the Athens State University field experience office and the certification officer
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution; Master's preferred
A minimum of 5 years of experience at a university, preferably in a College of Education
Knowledge of regional and/or disciplinary accreditation standards and reporting
Experience with budget management and strategic planning
Willing to participate in innovative teacher education projects
Interested in the professional and personal growth and career development of students
Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work as a team when supporting new initiatives and partnerships with local public schools, community colleges, and across the University
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and tasks based on need
Ability to proactively work towards building cooperative and collaborative relationships with P-12 partners and university peers
Possess a strong sense of customer service
Ability to proactively engage in problem solving
Ability to work independently
Salary Schedule
Salary Band: N130- $14.71- $18.39 per hour, up to 19 hours per week

Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions. Presently, over 3,100 students have selected Athens State because of its neighborly environment where 50 majors and degree programs are offered, with courses taught by a supportive and exceptional faculty. Approximately 80% of the students are enrolled in at least one online course. The typical student is a working adult who commutes.
